The biggest Teides son is Pico Viaje.  Its on the South-West slope and its altitude is 3150.

Start for this trekking again from the crater. From the POI Rocks of Garsia. This place is interesting but for those who are all time on the beach. Yes, beautiful, but…. Not for special trip.

From Garsia to Pico is 7 km and 950 m up.
Early in the morning we began our trekking.
Girls stay at home for study and we are four.

First 1,5 km pass going on flat near the Garsia.
Then we go uphill through the lava rivers. Most beautiful lava formations are like screwed ropes and named phoephoe. I think this is Hawaii name, because there were a lot of this type. And they were so different! Like a pictures.

Now we are only uphill. The grade is  not big.  Lava stones, little bit of  grass, small bushes. After 2 hours we found first bomb. Volcanic bombs of huge sizes! May be Norwegian trolleys came here and through them from the top? Then it was real Garden with stones! May be 5-8 gigantic bombs! They are blinking steel black on the sun.

Step by step and in 4,5 hours we are near the crater. Right side is yellow brown slope of Teide. With black lava  rivers. This slope as velour. Its of course not soft, but from distance i think its a sand

Around is so beautiful! Small patches of snow are in the shadow near the stones. Crater of Pico Viaje is not very deep and its possible get inside. But i think its 2 hours both ways. Or more. We have no time.

We are on the highest point of crater. I look to One side – it is Teide. Another side is a crater. Turn to South and we see big mountains of Teide crater. And TO North its visible the seashore villages of Tenerife.

We sat on the edge of crater, took our tea, cheese and jambon. Its a miracle!

Time to go dawn.

From the beginning Three Catalonia start after us to ascent on Pico Viajr, they finished on Pico Viaje  little bit earlier. As we ask, after PV they suppose to ascent  directly on Teides summit and then by foot ( last Teleferico at 4p.m) go dawn. Crazy….. We will read tomorrow news….

The Way back must not be long. 7-8 km.  But this one was long. We observe mountains, we drunk tea, we made photos. Its became darker and way was not visible good. Pass is  not nice marked. Especially at evening time its hard to find right way. Only direction and need to be very very careful.

My last steps were with long shadows. Teide became terracotta color. Air was chilly. Much darker more cold.  The sky started change colors – we saw even green strips. It was beautiful. In the dusk in lava stones pass became invisible

Way to home was long . We were happy, tired, with little headache. Altitude 3150 and strong mountains sun. But it was done!
