Death   of  THE CHRISOULA K.

In August 1981, Captain Kannelis (Kanellis) served in Italy on board a Greek cargo ship THE CHRISOULA K. The ship was fully loaded with Italian tiles for the floor. Port of discharge – the city on the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, near Mecca JEDDAH. With the first rays of the sun THE CHRISOULA K slipped into the waters of the Mediterranean in his last voyage. It was a long and tedious journey to Port Said and then 200 mile journey through the Suez Canal. Starting from the Suez Canal captain personally watched the navigation of the vessel.

It is not the first time we see the captain who decides to do everything themselves exclusively. And, as usual, at the time of entering the Suez Channel, he had two days did not close his eyes. Of course, with the same voltage, when the ship went into a broader and, like, a simple part of the strait, the ship was entrusted to the care of officers and the captain himself went to bed

He did not have long to sleep. Very soon he was rudely awakened – and career and at the same time the ship came to an end. At full speed THE CHRISOULA K riched the north-eastern famous reef Shab Abu Nuhas. It happened 31 of  August 1981

1st September 1981, Lloyd exhibited leaf loss. An official document, it was reported that a Greek ship in August 31 THE CHRISOULA K ran into a coral reef, which is not affected. Military picked 21-member crew and took them to Suez. Damage to the ship are so serious that neither save  the ship nor his cargo  possible.

It remained unknown, or a tired captain gave the wrong order or wrong wardroom, today THE CHRISOULA K lies on the same place and  it is one of the most interesting wrecks  of  Red Sea.
