Greek-Catholic Church of St. Mikołaj. Sokirnitsy village. Ukraine. may – 2008
Дата 24 November 2010

Architectural monument of 17 century. Protected by law.

The church is located in the center of the village Sokirnitsy, enclosed by a wooden fence. Babinets spire rises above the complex design. The entire roof is covered with shingle – a special form of wooden planks. Nearby, at 15 meters, stands the bell tower. The bell tower – the tallest in the area. Around the church and bell tower  -  the numerous trees that partially cover the ensemble.

In 1991, close to the old church was built new one. In the same year, an old wooden church was closed and made like a museum.

Around the church are crosses. As we explained by a local woman, people were buried near the church, and the crosses are mounted on the walls of the church.

Dates,

- From the north side  -  40 crosses,

- From the south – 12 crosses,

- The west – 4 Cross,

- From the east (apsida) – 12 crosses.

Inside – Babinec –  actually prayer hall  had lost its authentic appearance because of a strange repair – all the church inside was covered with plywood sheets.
At the bottom of the altar  remained hard-to-read labels , and  destroyed by  time icons. Holy gates do not correspond to the establishment of the church.

In altar space preserved stone altar.

The entrance to the church  is authentic-  low, with a beautiful, wide casing. Clypeus decorated with “rope” thread.

Unfortunately, the restoration was done only  in the eastern part of the roof.
