Spring skiing in Uzbekistan. march – 2005

Skiing at Chimgan (Uzbekistan), perhaps not the most comfortable and civilized, but, undoubtedly, one of the most vivid and memorable.

From Tashkent it is not difficult to get to the ski resort. One of the best local hotels “Beldersay” is located directly next to the intermediate skiing station at an altitude of about 1600m. Skiing because of the end of March,  was possible only on the very top of the mountain Kumbel.

There were no People. We were the only guests in  the hotel. The cost of living was about $ 50 per day per person.

We were alone on the mountainside. Especially for us the main chairlift was switched on, and we floated over the already verdant Beldersay tract. Fruit trees were buried in pink. Air spring, clean and delicious.

And then specially for the small lift also was switch on. And we were quite happy that we were alone on this mountain, the whole day skiing and drinking Uzbek tea. For Dinner, we sometimes went to the house  of meteorologists. We Only had to call them in the morning. And then we were expecting pancakes with jam, a thick soup and fruit compote of some kind of unimaginable berries.

Those who come in the winter to Chimgan can make a  helicopter trip near the same hospitable house. And then begin an unforgettable journey through the pristine slopes of the foothills of the Tien Shan.

Few kilometers from “Beldersay” we discovered a large ski resort, in fact Chimgan.

But if you’re looking for mountain comfort, then you still should stay in the tract.

Is there any basis for a ski rental for us is unknown, we took ours  with us.

And then we went to look for the legendary Brichmula.. And in 2-hour drive found it! Stood under the sign and sang a song. We traversed deep rivers near melting glaciers. And went back to Tashkent.

Tashkent in the spring – a city of sun and open spaces. These  is Soviet city. Wide streets, large squares. Not crowded. And the machines much less than we have in Kiev.

We ate real Uzbek plov. Ate by hands, as we are taught by local residents. And then boarded a train Tashkent – Bukhara and traveled to the capital of the Arab Caliphate, the Khanate of Bukhara, in this city history.

I remember my friend photos of Samarkand and Bukhara – the majestic ruins of the blue sky.

Bukhara today – a set of architectural masterpieces, which have no equal in the whole world. All – in excellent condition. Almost all were restored. Mosques, madrassas, markets and mausoleums. Living History! You can walk from morning till night. In late March, tourists still not a lot of, and the weather is just wonderful. In the historic buildings housed endless craft shops, squares arranged  by colorful bazaars. Cheaply you can eat and drink a delicious fragrant coffee.

Highlights all the monuments at night, bazaars are empty. The few passers-by completely disappear. And you can fully enjoy the wonders of the eastern night.
