Frederick Hundertwasser (1928 – 2000) – famous Austrian architect, designer and philosopher.

The strongest influence on the artists work had Gustav Klimt and Antonio Gaudi. The most famous building designed by Hundertwasser, located in Vienna, and named after him. Anyone who ever saw this design, will not forget it – an incredible variety of doors and windows in conjunction with a completely unbelievable columns and uneven floors. What has it all painted in different colors and have different sizes. Excellent!

Works of  Hundertwasser were used on flags, on postage stamps (for Cape Verde and the UN), posters in schools, churches and even in a public toilet  of city Kawakawa!

In general, the public toilet was built under the personal guidance of the master.

Hundertwasser first visit to New Zealand was in 1970th. He absolutely fell in love with this country and even bought a property near Kawakawa. On average, the master lived one or two months in the Bay of  Islands. At the end of his life he tried to hold in New Zealand as much as possible.

The project is funded by various businessmen and city officials of Kawakawa. Under the leadership of Hundertwasser in 1999, students were able to cast the necessary ceramic parts and pick the appropriate tiles.

And a miracle appeared in the town of one street! A miracle is – Hundertwasser public toilet! And this miracle is recorded in all guidebooks country! Among other things – Hundertwasser toilet – the only product of the Master throughout the Southern Hemisphere!

Believe me, we were pleased to see this wonderful place!
